Market Run

Image
I love Wednesdays because I get to go with Manolo to my local market to buy beautiful fresh produce and freshly made blue corn tortillas. The market is a wonderful source of inspiration: the colors, smells, textures and the smiling faces of my usual vendors :)

Whittle Birdie

Image
As my sweet friend Sonia told me at Instagram : "It was inevitable" :) Hand carved & wood burned mahogany birdie.  1) Carved with this knife .  2) Sanded progressively with coarse, medium and fine grit sandpaper. 4) Wood burned with my pyrography pen 5) Finished with this wood salve .

Obsession

Image
This new hobby of mine has become a full on obsession. I've made a second spoon, a butter knife and a pebble brooch.  I want to be holding my carving knife and a piece of scrap wood all day :)

My First Spoon

Image
Ever since I saw the beautiful spoon Arounna made for her daughter Piper I've been dying to try my hand at it. She's carved more since then and even made a few Instagram videos . I already loved wood carving and spoon carving was every bit of fun that I imagined. Very meditative & relaxing.  This one is made of cedar wood and I finished it with a salve made of oil and wax. The beautiful eggs were a hand made gift from Margie .

Journaling the Days

Image
I was leafing through my old journals yesterday wondering why and when I stopped doing it. I will start keeping my days again next week. This is my favorite brand of blank journals in case you were wondering :) I own several in different colors and formats. The weight of the paper is really good for watercolor & collage.
